Course Suitability
The CIEH Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace has been designed to meet the needs of those who are entering the workplace for the first time, either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment. It will also benefit those who are starting a new job – as part of an induction programme.
The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety provides a quick, concise and practical starting point from which more detailed training can be undertaken, with more advanced training available through the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety.
Training Overview
The CIEH Level 1 Award in Health and Safety is an accessible qualification to all workers which will change the way companies consider health and safety. The short course provides an outline of the basics of health and safety that will protect both the candidate and their fellow workers in all areas of employment.
The course is also Ideal for schools – for young people embarking either on work experience or their first job.
Course Content
The Level 1 Health and Safety course is designed to make candidates aware of the key health and safety issues and the part that they should play in keeping themselves and others free from harm in the workplace.
The training course will cover the following topics:
- The importance of health and safety in the workplace
- Hazards and risks
- Workplace conditions
- Workplace procedures
Assessment
The Health and Safety in the Workplace Level 1 Award is knowledge-based and will be assessed by means of an external assessment. Each unit is marked by means of a 15 question, multiple choice examination.
Course Duration
The CIEH Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is run as a half day training course.
