Course Suitability
The CIEH Level 2 Award in Hygiene in Health and Social Care is designed as an introduction to hygiene and ensures that vulnerable people are not exposed to unnecessary risks. It will help everyone, including those in the private and voluntary health care sectors, to play their part in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
The Level 2 Award in Hygiene in Health and Social Care is designed for all employees and is one of a suite of programmes created specifically for those with roles within the health and social care industries. Other suitable training courses include the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in Health and Social Care and CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety.
Training Overview
In the UK over a million people are employed as carers and millions more provide informal care and support for relatives and friends. The Department of Health has drawn up a code of practice acknowledging that everyone involved in care provision needs training to tackle the risk of Health Care Acquired Infection (HCAI).
Course Content
The Level 2 Hygiene in Health and Social Care course provides employees with an introduction to hygiene hazards and how to control them.
The training course will cover the following topics:
- Hygiene hazards
- Personal hygiene
- Cleaning
Assessment
The Hygiene in Health and Social Care Level 2 Award is knowledge-based and will be assessed by means of an external assessment. Each unit is marked by means of a multiple choice examination.
Course Duration
The CIEH Level 2 Hygiene in Health and Social Care is run as a half day training course.
